BCM 206 -The chronic task of sorting: information flows and liquid labour

“No one can escape the transforming fire of machines. Technology, which once progressed at the periphery of culture, now engulfs our minds as well as our lives. Is it any wonder that technology triggers such intense fascination, fear, and rage?” – Kelly, K. (1999) ‘This new economy’. In New Rules for the new Economy

In this weeks lecture, I have learnt about how businesses create strategies and the ways in which old and new forms of production in the developing world support the growth of the information economy. In the reading I have decided to discuss talks about how the revolution of technology is shaping human lives and the economy by the continue of development. The geography of wealth is constantly being rearranged by our tools which now creates a new economy by decreasing the size of computers and expanding ways of communication.

My Gif I have created exemplifies the old forms developing and creating ideas of change so new forms can be created from the old developments for the improving the economy. I also like to add, the water represented is “liquid life” which is living under uncertainty of how these developments will turn out. Different information has been placed in these two paragraphs but basically wanted to simplify the meanings as much as I can for you!

  1. I scrolled to the gif and did a cheeky nose laugh. I love it, it’s hilarious but also relevant to the lecture content. Bravo for executing this. Liquid life is a concept I also talked about in this weeks remediation so its nice to get an alternate perspective. My remediation on the other hand was no where good as this one. Excited to see more blogs!

  2. This is so cool and clever. I love how you’ve synthesised this weeks information and the GIF is so well executed!

  3. Giph was cool, like the “liquid life” representation in there. Both paragraphs are different but they do go really well together. The simplification was nicely done as well.
